It’s good to talk!

When we hit a rough patch in life we can often get through it with support from friends, family or colleagues. There can be times when this doesn’t feel as though it’s working or you don’t know who to turn to.

Talking therapies are there to help people through these difficult times in life. Our service offers an assessment appointment to help you decide, with the support of one of our experienced therapists, which therapy would be the most helpful for you.

What to expect from Talking Therapy

You will meet with your therapist and in the first appointment, your therapist will explain about the service and how we can help you. All of our therapists are appropriately qualified and experienced in supporting people who are going through issues such as depression and anxiety.

How Talking Therapy can help you

It’s an opportunity to look at your problems in a different way, with someone who will respect you and your opinions, and help you find your own answers to problems. Sometimes it’s easier to talk to someone we don’t know, rather than to relatives or friends.

All of our therapies are confidential and will provide you with a safe place to discuss the issues that are troubling you. They are all provided on a one-to-one basis, except for our courses which are for small groups of people.

The therapies that we provide are recognised nationally as being particularly helpful for certain issues.

“Talking Therapy can help anyone who’s going through a bad time or has emotional problems that they can’t sort out on their own”.

Depression and anxiety can trick people into believing the only way to cope is by avoiding (e.g. not attending appointments, not going out, not wanting to talk about it), but in fact this actually maintains the problem and can even make it worse.

Talking therapies can work for anyone. But it’s very important to attend every session otherwise you may not feel the benefit.

We know that sometimes it can be worrying to attend the appointments, but people said after their first session that they felt more comfortable and at ease, and that they looked forward to coming for more sessions.
